Prof John Sutton

John Sutton is Professor of Cognitive Science at Macquarie University, Sydney, after many years in the Department of Philosophy. He has degrees in Classics (Oxford) and Philosophy (Sydney), and has held visiting positions at UCLA, Edinburgh, and UCSD. He is author of *Philosophy and Memory Traces: Descartes to connectionism* (Cambridge UP), and co-editor of *Descartes' Natural Philosophy* (Routledge) and *Embodied Cognition and Shakespeare's Theatre: the early modern body-mind* (Routledge, 2014). He is also co-editor of the international journal *Memory Studies*. His current research addresses distributed cognition and cognitive history, social and collaborative memory, expertise and skilled movement, and perspective in autobiographical memory.
